Green Canopy NODE is always pushing at the forefront of building science and innovation. We believe it is critical to build resilient, healthy homes - Net Zero standards help achieve this goal.
Net Zero Energy Homes
produce enough energy to offset their energy consumption needs over the course of a year through solar energy and ultra-efficient systems.
Net Zero Energy Ready Homes
are built to the same standards as Net Zero Energy homes, and can achieve Net Zero Energy status with the addition of a solar array.
Some of the systems + benefits included in Net Zero & Net Zero Ready homes:
Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERVs) introduces fresh, ventilated air that helps mitigate indoor air pollution
Ducted mini-split heat pumps with AC provides year round comfort
Powerful induction ranges are quicker, more precise, and healthier than their gas counterparts
Sense energy monitoring systems empower homeowners with a better understanding of how their day-to-day habits connect to their energy usage
High-performance weatherproof construction ensures resiliency
Electric vehicle-ready parking allows homeowners to live into their values
All Electric Homes
By using high-efficiency electric systems Net Zero Energy homes can dramatically reduce overall energy demand while running on electricity that can be generated by on-site solar. Building all-electric homes is a key solution to reducing our dependence on fossil fuels, in addition to creating healthier and safer communities.
More power costs less
We live in an advanced technological age where increasingly obsolete technology is being replaced by the latest and greatest.
The induction stoves & electric heat pumps in our homes are far more efficient than their gas counterparts, meaning they not only perform better, but save you money as well, allowing them to spend you money where they want to – not on your energy bills.
Induction Stoves:
One of the most notable shifts from gas to all-electric, is found in the kitchen. Induction stoves are included in our homes because:
They’re speedy – The power of induction allows water to boil at least 50% faster when compared to gas or traditional electric stoves.
They’re efficient – Up to 90% of the energy produced on an induction range is transferred directly to the cookware, instead of the burner, requiring less energy. In comparison, a traditional electric range transfers 74%, and a gas range transfers 40%.
They’re precise – Control the temperature to the exact degree almost immediately, and go from boil to simmer in seconds.

Healthy Homes
With at least 90% of our time spent indoors home health and design matters. Adhering to third party green building standards such as Built Green and Earth Advantage, Green Canopy NODE homes are both better for the environment and better for our health.
Eliminating Moisture
Water damage is often a result of substandard construction, ranging from poor window installation, leaky roofs, and inadequate framing. Mold and mildew are common signs of moisture issues, and can be a significant trigger for allergies and rashes. We use several weatherproofing methods to allow for both protection from the elements, as well as energy efficiency.
Improving Indoor Air Quality
Weatherproofing creates a seal to keep unwanted elements out, but in turn, also traps air in the home. Since our homes are nearly airtight, we incorporates energy recovery ventilators (ERVs) to introduce fresh air into the home, filtered from outside pollutants and allergens, while also exhausting stale air. A recent study found that “inhabitants of energy-efficient, mechanically ventilated homes rated the quality of indoor air and climate significantly higher” than those living in standard homes.
Reducing Exposure to Toxins
Green Canopy NODE uses low to zero-VOC paint, adhesives, and finishes to ensure there is minimal off-gassing from the products that are installed within our homes. We also make a deliberate decision to install non-gas appliances, reducing the amount of toxic byproducts released into homes.
