A New Path to Homeownership at Ruby-Mac Place

We’re out at the Oregon Convention Center attending the Housing Oregon Conference today and tomorrow (September 28-29) and connecting with our design partner, Nick Mira from Propel Studio Architecture, whose expertise on one of our current projects in Portland, Oregon showcases how sustainability, affordable homeownership and community wealth-building can all come together. 

Ruby-Mac Place is an ambitious affordable homeownership community led by Self Enhancement, Inc. (SEI) in Portland. We’re incredibly proud to be part of the pre-development and design team for this project.

SEI is doing something especially meaningful. They’re creating 49 affordable homes for purchase - not rent - designed to help families build equity and generational wealth in a time where housing is less attainable than ever.

It’s also a challenging 6.5-acre site, with significant wetland and soil conditions that the team has had to design around rather than simply build over. The result will be a mix of cottages, duplexes, townhomes and single-family homes - all designed to achieve Net Zero Energy, with solar helping offset the homes’ annual energy consumption.

A big shout-out to the Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund (PCEF) for investing in the renewable-energy side of affordable housing and helping make projects like this possible.
